Vehicle Mounted Lifting Equipment Design Engineer Role
An opportunity has arisen within our SwingLift division specialising in the design and manufacture of vehicle mounted cranes and lifting platforms. SwingLift is a highly regarded brand to customers such as Ford, VW, BT, Severn Trent and Network Rail. The successful candidate will work within a specialist team and support a wide variety of unique and high-quality projects for customers at home and abroad. The role will not be limited to vehicle mounted equipment and so the candidate must be prepared to be flexible within the team.
The role is a permanent position, based at our offices/factory in Clowne, Chesterfield.
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be integrated within our team and to perform the following roles:
- Produce innovative design solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Develop designs using Autodesk Inventor and produce drawings suitable for manufacture, including machining and fabrication drawings.
- Have due regard to legislation and British Standards.
- Liaise with the client on designs.
- Fully cost designs and produce a bill of materials.
- Trouble shoot production problems.
- Produce system layouts and module assemblies.
- Work alongside the production team to ensure a successful delivery.
- Produce operation and service manuals.
- Formal Mechanical Engineering qualification.
- Good working knowledge of 3D CAD packages – ideally Autodesk Inventor.
- An interest and knowledge of machinery and fabrication design.
- A basic understanding of the design of electrical control circuits would be an advantage.
- Fully proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience of offering project support in terms of collating and presenting documentation.
- Willingness to learn new skills and expand existing knowledge.
- Good verbal, visual and written communication skills.
- Prepared to be flexible on working hours to meet deadlines.
Guidance and personal development can be given to the successful candidate for specific requirements.
The successful candidate will be well supported within the Design Team but will be expected to meet deadlines from the outset and their performance will be monitored. The company has high expectations of all employees and they are expected to continue with their personal development.
Salary: Negotiable depending upon experience.
Contract: Permanent 40hrs/week Mon – Fri, plus overtime (as required).
