Van Loading Platform FAQs
A van loading platform, or van lift, is a vehicle-mounted loading platform that aids the transporting of goods in and out of vans or trucks. A van lift from Penny Engineering is available in many shapes and sizes to meet the demands of diverse load types, vehicles, payloads, and budgets.
A van with platforms for lifting significantly reduces manual handling risks and optimises operational efficiency by making it easy to move heavy / awkward loads in and out of vans.
The unique Penny Engineering van lift design is also incredibly lightweight and compact, with foldaway functionality to maximise usable space in the van, while still having the strength to handle loads of up to 500kg. Plus, options for side or rear platform installations promise flexible loading and unloading for a wide range of applications.
All our van loading platforms have an estimated lead time of 6-8 weeks from when the order is placed.
In short, no. The suitability of a van lift depends greatly on the vehicle’s stability, payload, and axle loadings.
We will also need to consider the strength and carrying capacity of the vehicle, as well as the realistic possible weight of the platform after accounting for other auxiliary items (e.g., vehicle racking) and passengers.
However, sometimes work can be done to strengthen the body of the vehicle to a level sufficient for supporting the platform. Please speak to a member of our team for more guidance.
To specify your custom van loading platform, we need to know the vehicle type, the vehicle voltage, the preferred loading method, and the shape and weight of the goods you are planning to lift.
If you need help specifying your custom van loading platform, please contact your area manager or call our sales office on 01246 811 475. Alternatively, you can use our configurator for a recommended solution based on your inputted requirements.
