Who We Work With
Goods Lift FAQs
A warehouse loading bay lift is a goods only lift that is designed to run between two floor levels where the difference is less than 1.5 metres. They do not necessarily need to be fitted to a loading bay.
Installing a loading bay lift in your premises ensures that your workers are adhering to correct health and safety procedures and that your pallets, bins, stock, or other goods are safely transferred between levels without damage.
Loading bay lifts can be purchased directly from Penny Engineering. For more information and advice, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our dedicated team today.
All Penny Engineering manufacturing lifts have a lead time of 4-6 weeks from placing the order.
The type of goods lift you will need depends on the items you are wanting to lift.
Our MezzLight Mezzanine Goods Lift can handle larger goods, such as pallets and trolleys, and transport them to a second or third floor. They are an effective solution for warehouses, factories, retail stores, or workshops. Our Cellar Lift, on the other hand, is more suited to barrels and crates, transporting them in and out of the cellar.
If you need more information on which lift is ideal for you, then please send your query to sales@pennyhydraulics.com or call 01246 811475.
To specify a goods lift, we need to know:
- What you want to lift
- Building opening size to ensure the lift will fit
- How the items are packaged (e.g., on a pallet)
- The floor-to-floor height the lift needs to travel
- Loading method (e.g., if the goods will be wheeled on the lift or loaded on at waist height)
- The size and dimensions of the manufacturing lift
- Building layout plans (if available)
You can contact our sales office on 01246 811 475 or contact your area manager.
At the start of any project, a member of our mezzanine goods lift consultant team will undertake a full site survey to determine the exact lift specification for the required application.
Standard mezzanine goods lifts require a 20 Amp/240 Volt 50Hz single-phase electrical supply. This should be determined in a double pole switch. If circuit breakers are employed in the system, then they must be of a type that can cope with the surge of an electrical motor.
Manufacturing lifts can also be supplied as 415 Volt, 3-phase units where required. See the table below for more information.
240 Volt 9.5 Amp 1.5 kW 1 Ph IP54
240 Volt 12.6 Amp 1.8 kW 1 Ph IP54
240 Volt 13.0 Amp 2.2 kW 1 Ph IP55
415 Volt 4.8 Amp 2.2 kW 3 Ph IP55
Our mezzanine goods lifts travel to a maximum of 2 floors, except for our 3-tier MezzLift Goods Lift which can reach a maximum of 3 floors.
The maximum floor-to-floor height of a mezzanine manufacturing lift depends on the duty and model, alongside site circumstances. A good rule of thumb is that it becomes more difficult to make a MezzLift Goods Lift over 4 metres, so standard prices will not apply. Contact us for guidance.
The maximum weight of a mezzanine manufacturing lift can differ. For example, our Heavy Duty MezzLift Goods Lift can lift a maximum of 1000kg, whereas our MezzLight Light Duty Goods Lift can only lift a maximum of 250kg.
The maximum floor-to-floor height for a Cellar Lift will depend on the type of lift you are looking for. Our Vertical Cellar Lift has a maximum height of 3800mm, whereas our Sloping Cellar Lift has a maximum height of 8000mm.
Depending on what type of MezzLift you are looking for, the maximum weight can differ.
For example, a Heavy Duty MezzLift can lift a maximum of 1000kg, whereas a MezzLight can only lift a maximum of 250kg.
The maximum weight for a Vertical Cellar Lift is up to 54 gallons. A Sloping Cellar Lift can handle a full 54-gallon barrel or general items weighing up to 300kg.
The maximum height a Loading Bay Lift will operate to is 1500mm.
Extremely versatile, our loading bay lifts can be installed both inside and outside to suit a range of working conditions and environments, with very little to no alteration required.
Our loading bay lifts here at Penny Engineering are able to lift goods between levels where the height is up to 1.5 metres.
