Why Choose a Cellar Lift?
Boost Efficiency and Productivity
Moving heavy goods between floors can be time-consuming and sometimes not even possible. A cellar lift allows staff to access stock quickly and easily so they can put their skills to better use.
Optimise Storage Processes
Transporting cases, boxes, and packaged food goods is made simple with the use of a cellar lift, enabling staff to accept deliveries more efficiently and optimise storage organisation.
Ensure Compliance
A cellar hoist or cask lift can help you keep in line with stringent health and safety regulations by reducing the risk of injury from manual handling.
Prevent Damage
Dropping a barrel full of liquid can not only compromise the product but also damage surrounding assets. Eliminate this risk with barrel lifting equipment tailored to your facility.
Avoid Injury
Manually handling heavy objects can cause serious injuries and staff absence. With a cellar hoist, users can safely transport goods between floors without the risk of harm.
International Partners
Penny Engineering supply lifting equipment to over 25 countries around the world. We also offer a UK-wide installation service that includes Ireland, where we can offer site survey, lift installation and ongoing maintenance.

What Is a Cellar Lift?
A cellar lift, also known as a cellar hoist, cask lift, or cellar door hydraulic lift, is a specially designed device for carrying a range of cases, boxes, packaged food goods, and kegs between cellars and the ground floor.
Food case and beer keg lifting equipment are widely used throughout the retail and hospitality industry, providing teams with a quick, secure, and ergonomic method for transporting heavy and valuable loads from storage up to kitchen and bar areas for use.
Depending on the premises, there are cellar lift options to suit compact environments, spaces with an existing ramp or skid, and even the most arduous indoor and outdoor conditions. When you choose Penny Engineering, you can ensure a tailored solution that meets the unique demands of your facility.

Cellar Lift FAQs
All Penny Engineering cellar lifts have a lead time of 4-6 weeks from placing the order.
The best cellar lift for your facility depends on the goods you plan to lift and the available space. Following a site survey, we can discuss the most effective and cost-efficient options for your needs.
To specify a cask lift, we need to know:
- What you want to lift
- Building opening size to ensure the lift will fit
- How the items are packaged
- The floor-to-floor height the lift needs to travel
- Loading method (e.g., wheeled on the lift or loaded at waist height)
- The size and dimensions of the cellar hoist
- Building layout plans (if available)
All our food goods and beer cellar lifts can travel up to 2 floors.
Within our range of cellar lifts and hoists, the maximum floor-to-floor height is 7 metres.
Within our cellar lift range, the maximum lifting capacity available is 210kg.
