Chandelier and Lighting Power Supply Mechanisms for Winches

Maintaining power to a luminaire  during maintenance and throughout the raising and lowering process can be managed with our innovative spring-loaded cable reeling drums, which pay out an electrical flex as the lights are lowered and retract it back onto the drum as they are raised. These are useful if you plan on having multiple operating heights for the light fitting.

Alternatively, you can automatically break the electrical feed when lowering your light fixtures with our lock and power feed socket mechanisms, also known as Contact Suspension Units (CSU). Not only do these enable you to isolate power to your lights during maintenance but they also offer a secondary suspension lock that secures them to the ceiling when fully raised.

No item should be suspended by a single rope over the heads of people below. That’s why our CSU lighting power supply solution is designed to be retrofitted to many types of manual single-rope hoists, helping you protect staff, visitors, and assets while ensuring compliance with current lifting regulations.

Our Contact Suspension Units: Key Features

Penny Engineering’s unique lighting power supply mechanisms for winch systems combine robust construction with simple and reliable operation. They can accommodate loads ranging from 5kg to  500kg, with a maximum of 9 electrical contacts, plus earth, feeding the luminaire.

Key features of the CSU include:

  • Automatically makes/breaks the electrical feed to lights when raising and lowering
  • Engages a secondary mechanical lock for securing high-level assets
  • Relieves the winch, pulleys, and wire rope from tension
  • Light fitting becomes fully isolated for safe maintenance at low levels
