Penny Engineering Shortlisted for the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards 25/26

We’re delighted to share that Penny Engineering has been shortlisted for two categories at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards 2025/2026: Green Business of the Year and Excellence in International Growth Award.

This recognition reflects the heart of our work – building a sustainable, responsible engineering business that grows with integrity and purpose. Winners will be announced at the awards dinner on 26th March 2026, at Pride Park Stadium in Derby.

Celebrating Regional Excellence

Earlier this month, we attended the East Midlands Chamber President’s Celebration Event at the Renaissance at Kelham Hall, where Chamber President Dawn Whitemore welcomed business leaders from across the region to celebrate this year’s shortlist.

It was inspiring to see so many local organisations recognised for the work they’re doing to strengthen our region’s economy and community. We’re honoured to be named among them and look forward to the awards next spring.

Green Business of the Year

Our shortlisting for Green Business of the Year recognises the progress we’ve made in our mission to lead the Green Revolution in Manufacturing. Sustainability is embedded into how we work, from the materials we choose to the energy we generate and the partnerships we build.

Each year, we save 600+ tonnes of CO₂ and generate 325 MWh of clean energy through rooftop solar systems. Our zero-landfill policy, EV fleet powered by solar, and sustainable product redesigns are all part of a wider commitment to engineering that serves people and the planet.

We’re proud to be ISO 14001 certified, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and part of the SME Climate Hub, working towards net zero by 2030. These efforts are deeply rooted in our culture – led from the top, owned by all.

Our approach delivers measurable value across every stakeholder group:

  • Customers benefit from low-carbon, longer-life products.
  • Suppliers collaborate with us on greener materials and innovative designs.
  • Employees work in cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environments.
  • Communities gain from our wider impact through tree planting, heritage restoration, and school partnerships.

Excellence in International Growth Award

Our shortlisting for the Excellence in International Growth Award highlights how we’ve extended our reach outside of the UK while staying true to our values and delivering measurable results.

In recent years, we’ve grown our international presence and built lasting partnerships across Europe and beyond. Our work now spans an expanding range of countries and sectors, as we continue to support customers worldwide with sustainable, high-quality engineering solutions.

This year, we exceeded our annual export targets and laid a solid foundation for future growth in both established and emerging markets. We believe this success has been driven by collaboration, consistency, and trust – values that define our approach to every project, no matter where in the world we’re working.

Why This Recognition Matters

For us, being shortlisted isn’t just about winning an award. It’s about seeing our values reflected in real outcomes – lower emissions, stronger partnerships, meaningful growth, and a positive contribution to our region and industry.

We think long-term. Our guiding principles of Trust, Engineering, and Longevity shape every decision we make:

  • Trust in transparent relationships and ethical action.
  • Engineering that inspires excellence and innovation.
  • Longevity through sustainable progress and social responsibility.

These values underpin everything we do and guide how we evolve. Being recognised by the East Midlands Chamber is a proud moment for our team – not just as a business, but as people who care deeply about the future we’re building together.

Looking Ahead

The East Midlands Chamber represents thousands of businesses across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Leicestershire, supporting growth, innovation, and responsible leadership across the region. Its annual Business Awards celebrate organisations that have made exceptional contributions to their industries and communities.

Being named among this year’s finalists is an honour that reflects both our progress and the shared values of businesses driving the East Midlands forward. We look forward to celebrating with our fellow finalists in March 2026 and to continuing our journey towards a greener, more globally connected future.
